The overrated role of government in cyber security
In general, governments are held accountable by their citizens for providing public order on the streets of cities and villages. People are willing, albeit grudgingly, to pay taxes in order to stay and feel safe. Recent figures however show that people feel more safe offline than online. Habitually, governments are itching to extend their public order duties to the internet. Anouk Vos will explain why this is one big fallacy and a result of mission creep, overrated self-importance and blatant ignorance in times of an overstretched justice system.
