Is Your Domain at Risk? Discover How SIDN is Fighting Cyber Threats at Cybersec Netherlands 2024

Join SIDN at Cybersec Netherlands on the 6th and 7th of  2024

SIDN is the registry responsible for managing the .nl-domain.  As the digital landscape continues to evolve, so do the threats faced by businesses and internet users. One of the most pressing cybersecurity challenges today is the rise of DBS and domain name abuse. Most notably, phishing, malware distribution, and ddos attack. Cybercriminals are becoming more sophisticated, exploiting vulnerabilities in domain registrations and DNS infrastructure to carry out and reinforce attacks that can compromise sensitive data and disrupt online services. Combating these threats requires continuous vigilance and innovation in the cybersecurity domain.

Domain abuse on the rise

Recent trends in cybersecurity reveal an alarming increase in ransomware attacks, targeted phishing campaigns, and the abuse of trusted domains.[1] The shift towards a more distributed, remote workforce has expanded the attack surface for cybercriminals, while the rise of AI in cyberattacks has made attacks more refined and effective. Additionally, the increased adoption of cloud services and IoT devices introduces new vulnerabilities like Dangling DNS[2], requiring security professionals to stay ahead of evolving threats.

Proactive approach

At SIDN, we take a proactive approach to combatting domain name abuse. An example is Regcheck: a tool developed by SIDN Labs to help detect and prevent domain name abuse at the point of registration. It uses advanced algorithms and machine learning to assess new domain name registrations and flag those that exhibit patterns commonly associated with malicious behavior, such as phishing, malware distribution, or botnet activity.  In addition to this we continuously monitor domain activity to detect signs of malicious behavior and collaborate with authorities, providerfs, and security experts to take down harmful domains.

SIDN Brandguard
SIDN also helps organizations find domain name abuse by detecting malicious use of their name and logo in domains with SIDN Brandguard. This tool provides near realtime insight in potentially malicious domain name registrations. Visit our booth for more information and a personal demo.
